This is based on two different ways of designing our products:

We develop, as in current practice, a cheaper, smaller product line and a more expensive, larger product line.

We develop a single product line and only vary the parts of the product that are necessary (also called modularization).
Calculation using existing methods (direct costs)
It is 22% more expensive annually to produce and maintain solution 2 compared to solution 1.
With AIMO, which—unlike current practice—includes expected costs for maintenance, development, planning, documentation, etc., for each of the 15,000+ components, the picture is reversed:
Here, it is 27% cheaper annually to produce and maintain solution 2 compared to solution 1.
Overall, this amounts to more than 400 million DKK over the product’s lifetime, which is 15 years.
